The Islanders have confirmed their backup S. Varlamov as their starter and it looks like Flames will be going with J. Markstrom. Markstrom has been solid during this win streak has he given up only 4 goals. He may play at the moment is probably propelling his trade value for the upcoming trade deadline which would be a plus for the Flames. Both sides have beaten quality teams of late with the Flames beating the Bruins and Devils while the Isles have beaten the Leafs and Bolts. I like the underdog Flames here with the probable advantage in goal with Markstrom over Varlamov.

The Jets host the Penguins tonight, the Pens will be on a B2B after suffering a 3-2 to the Wild last night. The losing streak for the Jets is up to 5 straight now and they look to get revenge on the Pens from their 3-0 loss suffered Feb 6th. The Jets are struggling on the offensive end scoring only 4 goals in their 5 losses. The Jets have way too much talent on their roster to think their struggles will continue and when you have C. Hellebuyck in goal one has to believe this streak will not last much long and end tonight. I like the Jets in regulation versus an older Pens team on a B2B.

Dallas Stars -.5 -136 (regulation) & Dallas/Stars Montreal Canadiens O6.5 -102

The Stars are in Montreal to face the Habs this afternoon, the Stars will have a clear advantage in goal as J. Oettinger gets the nod versus S. Montembeault. Montembeault has a GAA of 3.08 and hasn't been great of late allowing 3+ plus in 6 of his last 9 starts. For the Stars J. Oettinger is playing better but still has some clunkers here and there as he's also given 3+ goals in 3 of his last 4 starts, the difference being that the Stars have won all 4 games as their offense is clicking. I expect to see plenty of goals this afternoon in Montreal and believe the Stars will also take this game in regulation.
