The Padres, the hottest team in the majors since the All Start Break look to continue their strong play when they visit the Marlins tonight. It will be newly acquired M. Perez versus E. Cabrera on the mound, Perez excelled in his first start for the Padres going 6 strong innings in a Padres 3-2 win. We will face a Marlins lineup that as I mentioned yesterday in my write up going with the Reds looks like a AAA lineup. Cabrera is also coming off a strong start versus the Braves pitching 6 shutout innings, however, that can be a little deceiving as the Braves are not as potent in 2024 as they were in 2023. Cabrera ERA is 5.96 on the season and 9 of his 11 starts have gone over the posted total. With the current form of the Padres offense and Cabrera struggling, the Padres on the run line and over the total are the plays here. 

Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 +117

After a rough stretch where many of their star players were struggling, the Phillies have now won three straight games and look to carry that momentum here tonight versus the DBacks. It will be Z. Wheeler on the mound versus R. Nelson, Wheeler has made 10 starts since the beginning of June and on 8 occasions he's allowed 2 ER or less in those starts showing how dominant he's been this season. One of those starts was versus the DBacks in Philly where he pitched 7 solid innings in a 12-1 win. Nelson has not pitched well at home this season with a 5.33 ERA over 9 starts, I expect him to struggle here as the Phils lineup has found its stroke again, I like them here by multiple runs.
