Val’s Adelaide WTA International - Adelaide Semi-Finals Play

We were on our way to a victory with our first tennis play of the year as A. Fils was up a set and up a break in the second set before Altmaier retired with an injury turning a win into a no action. Today we move to the WTA for a play.

American J. Pegula faces Russia's D. Kasatkina in the semi finals of the Adelaide International tonight. Kasatkina got to the semis in easier fashion as her quarter final opponent L. Siegemund withdraw with an injury providing Kasatkina with a walkover. Pegula had a much rougher time needing 3 sets to beat another Russian in A. Pavlyuchenkova in the quarters. Pegula has actually struggled in both her matches at this tournament needing 3 sets to beat fellow American B. Pera in the 2nd round. Kasatkina also needed 3 sets to beat her 2nd round opponent A. Kalinskaya. Even though Pegula is 2-0 in her career versus Kasatkina with both victories in straight sets, both have proven to be a little rusty at the start of the 2024 season and I like this match to get over 20 games played or even getting to a 3rd set.
