Young American E. Navarro faces Italian J. Paolini in the 3rd round of the Miami Open this morning. Both players received a 1st round bye, Navarro cruised in her 2nd round match in a straight set win on S. Hunter 6-4 6-3, while Paolini also won in straight sets over K. Volynets but it was much more difficult by a score of 7-6 7-5. Both are having excellent 2024 season so far, Paolini won the Dubai Open 3 weeks ago pushing her to the #14 ranking overall and Navarro is 19-5 on the season and has reached the semis and quarterfinals of several tournaments this season which has allowed her to crack the top 20 rankings. Navarro and Paolini have played each other twice since September of 2023 and Navarro has won both matches with ease in straight sets and seems to have Paolini's number. I will back Navarro today to make it 3 straight wins versus the Italian.
