Val's ATP Madrid Open Semi Final Play

One of the 2 semi final matches of the Madrid Open today while have Canadian FA Aliassime versus the Czech J. Lehecka this afternoon. Not long ago (2022) Aliassime was a top 10 player on tour and it was thought that he would stay there for quite some time, however, injuries and inconsistent play have derailed his progress and he now sits at #35 on tour. Is it sad to say but this tournament has been his best stretch of tennis in a long time and when you break it down, he's played ok but gotten a lot of luck on the way. In round 1 & 2 he beat players he should have in Y. Nishioka and an older A. Mannarino, he round 3 he benefitted from J. Mensik withdrawing after the 1st set, His 4th round match was impressive versus C. Ruud, but again Ruud wasn't at his best and he had a walkover in the quarters as J. Sinner withdrew,  Lehecka has been impressive here with a win of T. Monteiro in round 3 after Monteiro had just beaten S. Tsitsipas and the great R. Nadal in round 4. Lehecka did also benefit from withdrawal of D. Medvedev after the 1st set of his quarterfinals match, however, he was dominating up to that point. Even though Aliassime has reached the semis, Lehecka is playing better tennis and will win this match.
