Val's ATP Acapulco Finals Play

We get back on the winning track with the O23 games in the Ruud/Rune match, we head back to the Acapulco Open for our play today.

Aussie A. De Minaur faces Norwegian C. Ruud in the final of the Acapulco Open tonight. De Minaur is looking to defend his title as he won this tournament in 2023. Both players needed 3 sets in their semi final match to get here, De Minaur outlasted Britain's J. Draper who retired late in the 3rd set with an injury, however, De Minaur was up 4-0 in the 3rd set with a victory being a formality at that point. Ruud needed to comeback from a set down to beat the Dane H. Rune, I watched this match and Ruud was totally outclassed in the first set, and as has happened so often in the past to Rune, his physical stamina was his nemesis. Rune started to fade and Ruud took full advantage taking the match. I do not believe Ruud would have the match if not for Rune's stamina issue. Ruud will not be able to enjoy that luxury versus De Minaur tonight as he is one of the most fit players on tour and if Ruud shows any signs of weakness like he did last night De Minaur will capitalize. Both players have reached finals of tournaments this season, De Minaur in Rotterdam and Ruud last week in Los Cabos, however, neither was able to lift the crown. Tonight one of them will finally win the first tournament of the season and I believe it will be B2B titles for De Minaur in Acapulco.
