NFL Week 14 Power Rankings - Statsational

Each week Statsational will go over his NFL Power Rankings to bring you up to speed on what the numbers are showing. Are your eyes deceiving you are the numbers wrong? Let us know in the Discord chat.

With 13 weeks in the books do we have an idea of who the best team is in the NFL? I do not think anyone can be confident with picking any team to win it all right now. The rankings are as confusing as the season has been so far. This could lend itself to taking some longshots to win the Super Bowl. Before we get ahead of ourselves let's look at where we are on the rankings.

Buffalo Bills
The controversy with the rankings will start right at the top with the top team. Buffalo is 7-5 and no lock to even make the playoffs. They have 3 very winnable games coming up so 10 wins should be easily doable. This week they are a dog at Tampa and in week 16 they will be a dog to New England. Will 10 wins be enough to get them into the playoffs? It should but they are in a much more precarious position than they should be. Despite the record, Buffalo has the highest scoring margin of any team in the NFL. Much of that is due to them dominating the weaker teams on their schedule. The Bills have just one win over a team with an above .500 record and that was Kansas City.

Tampa Bay Bucs
The Bucs very well may be the best team in football. When they have the full arsenal of weapons on offense they become almost unstoppable. With the future of Antonio Brown up in the air that may never be realized again. Last season once Brown was acclimated into the offense, Tampa really started to take off. We will have to see if they can be as potent without the controversial wideout. They will make great strides in taking over the number 1 spot if they beat the Bills this week.

Dallas Cowboys
Most of you will disagree with the Cowboys staying in the top 5 but the numbers are what they are. Dallas has the 5th best scoring margin in the NFL while playing the 6th toughest schedule on my power ratings. The Cowboys bounced back well after a tough loss to the Raiders on Thanksgiving, beating the Saints on Thursday Night fairly convincingly. The rest of the schedule is favorable. Dallas should be a favorite in each remaining game. The one that could be of huge importance is week 17 against Arizona at home.

Arizona Cardinals
Speaking of the Cardinals they come in fractions of rating below the Cowboys. The Cardinals have managed to maintain the top spot in the NFC despite losing star QB Kyler Murray for 3 games. Murray was able to come back last week and impress in a win over the lowly Bears. This week will be a much greater challenge as they get the 8th ranked Rams. If Arizona can win they will gain a 3 game advantage with 4 to play over the Rams all but locking up the division and giving me a +650 winning ticket on the Cardinals to win the NFC West. A loss will make things trickier. The Cards should win @Detroit in week 15 but the easiest game after that is in Seattle the final week of the season. If Arizona is playing for anything the Seahawks will not want to lose that game at home.

New England Patriots
Could the Patriots be the best team in the AFC? It is pretty wide open right now but they certainly are in the conversation. The Pats are now +700 to win the Super Bowl on Draftkings which would make them the 3rd choice. New England is just behind Buffalo in scoring margin. Similar to the Billas they have been aided by a weak schedule, the 7th easiest in the NFL. No team is hotter, having won 8 straight. Their bye this week is perhaps at the wrong time. In this 8 game win streak they have beaten the Chargers, Titans, and Bills. Are we setting up a Brady vs the Patriots Super Bowl? I know the NFL would love to see that.
