Ukrainian M. Kostyuk faces A. Rus from the Netherlands in the 2nd round of the Miami Open this morning. Kostyuk is on pace to have her best year ever on the WTA tour as she sits at 15-6 and has gone deep in several tournaments she participated in. She reached the final of the San Diego Open as well as semis at Indian Wells last week, and the quarters in Adelaide and the Aussie Open. Her opponent A. Rus is a player with limited success in her career, she's 33 years old with only one tournament win all the way back in 2017 and has never been ranked higher than 41st overall. Hard court is definitely not here best surfaces as her career record on it is 134-122 and has not had a winning record on hard court since 2020. Kostyuk is by far the better player right now and will take care of business in straight sets over the older Rus.
