Beatriz Haddad Maia -125 (Start time 10am EST)

Brazil's M. Haddad Maia faces Spain's P. Badosa in the second round of the Doha Open. Badosa hasn't played since before the Aussie Open when she was forced to withdraw from the Adelaide Open in the semifinals due to an injury. You would have to ask yourself if she's 100% healthy upon her return. These two actually played each other in the quarterfinals of that same Adelaide Open with Badosa taking a very tight match 7-6 7-5. When looking at tennis lines you have to really take a step back and look to avoid traps, case in point this match we have Badosa who's been ranked as high #2 on tour last season, hasn't lost a match this season as she's 4-0, beat Hadda Maia just a couple of weeks ago and is an underdog in this. That seems kind of off to me, so I will back Hadda Maia here.

Qinwen Zheng -116 (Start time 12pm EST)

In another Doha Open second round match we have a battle between Greece's M. Sakkari versus China's Q. Zheng. Both players were close to making it to the finals of their previous tournaments played, but unfortunately Sakkari was eliminated in the semis of the Linz Open while Zheng suffered the same fate at the Abu Dhabi Open. As I just wrote above in the match between Badosa and Hadda Maia, I have my trap line theory for this game as well, we have the #7 player in the rankings in Sakkari facing #24 in Zheng, Sakkari beat Zheng last year at the Aussie Open and Sakkari is an underdog. It just doesn't seem right to me, so I will back Zheng as the small favorite.
