Florida Panthers -106
We have a team finishing off a road trip tonight in the Panthers and another in the Bruins returning home from a long 6 game road trip this afternoon. The Panthers haven't been playing well losing 4 of their last 6 games while the Bruins are riding a 3 game winning streak. As I've mentioned before, the first game back from a long road trip is difficult as players return home to their families which they haven't seen for a long time and need to get back to their home routine. This game is also very important for the standings as the Panthers are only 4 points behind the Bruins for the Atlantic division lead and could avoid a 1st round matchup with the Leafs if they can catch the Bruins. These teams are quality players up and down their lineup and this should be a great game, I think the Panthers can surprise the Bruins after a long road trip.
Houston Astros/Texas Rangers O10 -105
The Astros and Rangers play G2 of their 3 games series tonight when J. France faces J. Gray on the mound. Neither starter had success in their first start of the season, and I expect their struggles to continue tonight. The Astros offense has been hit or miss over their last 4 games, 10 runs versus the Jays then 1 the next game followed by 8 runs in the finale versus the Jays followed by only 2 runs versus the Rangers last night. Well we should be in store for runs scored tonight versus Gray as he has not been able to settle down since signing with the Rangers in 2022, his ERA has been close to 4.00 or higher every season. and he didn't start 2024 well giving up 5 ER in less than 4 innings in first start versus the Cubs. France also struggled versus the Yanks giving up 3 ER in less than 6 innings of work. Both offenses can score runs in bunches and I see that happening often tonight. I like a high scoring game here.
Cincinnati Reds -1.5 +163
The Mets play the Reds this afternoon when L. Severino faces N. Martinez, Severino left off exactly where his season ended after his first start and that is not a good place. Severino finished 2023 with a 6.39 ERA with the Yanks and many thought a change of scenery was do him some good, but he clearly didn't go far enough as he signed with the Mets and his first start in Queens was rough as he gave up 6 runs on 12 hits in only 5 innings in a loss to the Brewers. Martinez pitched well enough in his first ever start with the Reds to get them the win versus the Nationals, I expect him to be able to build on that today versus a Mets team that is struggling to produce offensively. Until he's able to prove otherwise, Severino is a bet against pitcher moving forward, I like the Reds on the run line here.
