Toronto Blue Jays +156
The Jays visit the Astros tonight in Houston. I can understand the line with the pitching miss match between R. Stripling and J. Verlander; however, the Jays have the bats that can negate that pitching advantage. Stripling is replacing H. Ryu in the rotation and had a lot of success in spot start duties last season and with the Dodgers in the past as well. I think the line is too high with the explosive offense the Jays have and see value in them today. I like Jays to surprise Verlander and the Astros tonight.
New York Mets -1.5 +132
The Mets are in Zona to start a 3 game series with the Dbacks. Early on it looks the Mets spending spree during the off season is yielding positive results; Scherzer & Bassitt have pitched really well, S. Marte & M. Canha have provided a nice boost to the lineup and the best addition might have been the hiring of B. Showalter as manager whom has a great track record of winning. The Dbacks lineup is one that looks very weak on a nightly basis and I just don’t think they will be able to hang with the Mets tonight. I like the Mets by multiple runs!
San Francisco Giants -1.5 +127
The Giants are in DC to face the Nats. The Giants play the analytics game to the tee with no wiggle room; they play matchups to start a game and will make changes as early as the 3rd inning. There is no deviating from the plan, I don’t necessarily agree with it but it was a strategy that won them 107 games last season. Tonight they face the Nats team that struggles to put up runs on nightly basis. The Giants lost 3 of 4 to the Mets and I think they take out their frustrations on the Nats that are offensively challenged.
