Val's Big Payday Parlay April 22nd

Val

We hit a nice parlay at +732 yesterday, we try to build on that tonight!

Val’s Big Payday Parlay, pays +731

LA Kings +152

The Kings begin their first round series with the Oilers tonight. As any hockey fan knows, playoff hockey is a different beast from the regular season as the game is more often than not played much tighter, with exception of the Avs/Jets game last night which finished 7-6. We should see C. Talbot and S. Skinner in goal for both sides, both goalies had their moments during the regular season where they exceled. The Oilers have a history of laying duds in the playoffs as the likes of C. McDavid and L. Draisaitl get neutralized by their opponents 3rd or 4thline and have much less power play opportunities as referees put away their whistles late in games unless there is a flagrant penalty. The Kings grinding lines matchup well with the Oilers top line and I like the Kings here as a big dog to win game 1.

Boston Bruins -136

Death, taxes and the Maple Leafs underperforming in the playoffs feel like the guarantees in life. G1 of the 2024 playoffs seemed no different than in years past as the Leafs didn’t play well in a 5-1 loss on Saturday night. A. Matthews’ goalless playoff games streak has now reached 6, it’s all fine and dandy to score close to 70 goals in the regular season but if you cannot find success in the playoffs, it becomes all for not. The Leafs are going to try and win this series with I. Samsonov in goal and that is the issue here, no matter who the Bruins start on any given night in J. Swayman or L. Ullmark, they will have a clear advantage in goal. I like the Bruins to head to Toronto for G3 up 2-0.

SD Padres -1.5 -111

The Padres are in Colorado tonight to face the second worst team in the majors the Rockies (5-17). The Rockies are at an all time low as they’ve never started a season this poorly since they joined the majors back in 1993. The task of winning a game will not be easy tonight as they face D. Cease who seems to have found his Cy Young form from 2 years ago. His ERA sits at 1.99 and he’s averaging close to 11Ks per 9 IP while having a sub 1.00 WHIP. The Rockies counter with A. Gomber on the mound and he’s has a little success this season but his ERA still sits at 4.95 and has only gone 6 IP in one of his 4 starts. I expect another rough start here for Gomber and the Padres to take this game by multiple runs.
