SD Padres -1.5 +153

The Cubs and Padres play the rubber game of their 3 games series this afternoon in SD. After a dramatic come from behind victory Monday night, the Padres bats were silent last night in a 5-1 loss. It will be K. Hendricks versus D. cease on the mound, Hendricks has not looked good at all this season giving up 5 ER is each of his 2 starts so far. Hendricks is not a hard pitcher to figure out, he does not have an overpowering fast ball, so he cannot blow the ball past hitters and if his changeup is not on, he's an essence a BP pitcher. Cease has pitched well in his 2 starts so far and looks to build on those 2 starts today. With a WHIP slightly below 1.00, Cease will limit the Cubs opportunities to score today and I like the Padres on the run line.

Cincinnati Reds -1.5 +153

The Brewers and Reds play game 3 of this 4 game series tonight when W. Miley faces H. Greene. Miley will be making his first start of the season as he started the season on the IL. He will probably be on a pitch count and not make it past 4-5 innings depending on how effective he will be. Greene will be making his 3rd start and has been very good so far with a 2.53 ERA, Greene's biggest issue over the past couple of seasons has been giving up the long ball. So far so good for him in 2024 as he hasn't allowed a HR yet. If he can continue to limit the HR ball, Greene could be a dark horse CY Young candidate as the stuff to dominate hitters. I like the Reds to get to Miley and the Brewers bullpen and win this game by a couple of runs or more.

Dallas Mavericks -163

The Mavs are in Miami to play the Heat tonight, both sides are on a B2B having played last night. The Mavs easily got by the Hornets 130-104 while the Heat needed double OT to beat the Hawks 117-111. The Mavs are really rolling right now having won 11 of their last 12 games and have secured their top 6 spot in the Western Conference. The Heat are battling the 76ers for the 7th seed and home court advantage in the play in round and this game is important to them, however, I question how fresh the Heat will be as 4 starters Jovic, Butler, Adebayo and Herro all played 39 minutes of more in their game last night. I like the Mavs here with fresher players to win this game on the road in Miami.
