Val’s Aussie Open Play - Round 4 (Day 2)
Val
We take a loss with Ruud, losing outright to Norrie in a very bizarre result as Ruud from a numbers basis outperformed Norrie in categories that normally result in a victory. Ruud had more winners, aces, and less unforced errors than Norrie, however, in the category that counts the most, break points Norrie exceled converting 4 of 6 while Ruud only converted 1 of 10 and that is where the match was lost for Ruud. Tonight we have a play on the women's side of the Aussie Open.
Record 5-3 (+2.8 units)
Mirra Andreeva -3.5 games -110 (Risk 1.1 for 1 unit) Expected start time 11:30pm EST Jan 20th.
M. Andreeva, a 16 year old Russian is getting noticed and making a name for herself at the Aussie Open making it to the 4th round and can surpass a career best at a major with a victory tonight. She also reached the 4th round at Wimbledon last year but lost that match to American M. Keys. Tonight she faces Czech B. Krejcikova the #11 player ranked on tour, outside of her 2nd round match which she won in straight sets, Krejcikova needed to come back from a set down in rounds 1 & 3. Andreeva has outplayed all 3 of her opponents so far and dominated all the stat lines you look for in a tennis match; winners, aces, unforced errors and break points. Krejcikova has been broken several times in her 3 matches so far and that will be her demise tonight versus Andreeva. Andreeva has played Krejickova in the past, both times in 2023, Andreeva was up 6-3 4-0 at Wimbledon before Krejcikova retired with an injury and then again later in 2023 in a tournament in Beijing where Andreeva had her way in a 6-2 6-2 victory. Andreeva has Krejcikova's number and will go 3-0 and cover the 3.5 games.
