Many believe that the 19 year old Fils has the potential to be one of the best players from France in years. The last male French player to win a Major tournament was Y. Noah (Joakim Noah's father) whom won the French Open in 1983. R. Gasquet and J. Tsonga have had success but were never able to break through and win a Major. Fils is 4-1 on the season with his only loss to Russian A. Rublev in the quarters in a match that went 3 sets in Hong Kong. Fils has won 3 of his other 4 matches in straight sets with ease. Altmaier played a marathon 2 set match versus Canadian F. Auger-Aliassime last time out that went over 2.5 hours. Fils has won his two matches in this tournament in combined less time than it took Altmaier to beat Aliassime. Fils is rolling right now and a lot fresher than Altmaier being on court 2hr compared to Altmaier's 4hr and 6 minutes. I like Fils in straight sets here.
