OVERALL RECORD: 52-50-3, -0.25u
RECAP: Yesterday we hit our fifth straight MLB of the Day, as we haven’t dropped a single one this week. The Tigers won easily behind Tarik Skubal’s impressive game and Javier just sucking for the first two innings of the game, and it was an easy cash – I hope you got it around -130 like I did. Our other play, the under in Tampa Bay, didn’t cash, as the Yankees bullpen turned to mush halfway through the game. We move on to today in an early, early Sunday slate!

Listen, I’m one of the biggest Cubs fans around these parts, and within the world of the Sharp App. Yesterday was gut-wrenching for me, watching the Cubs flounder away a lead to the miserable Pirates – and today, the Cubs have Kyle Hendricks on the mound, a player who has been a bottom-five pitcher in the entire MLB. And the Cubs are FAVORED? I’ll literally pay money to see them win this game.
Kyle Hendricks doesn’t get hit hard, which has always been his mantra. But the advanced stats show that he’s actually one of the worst pitchers in the league, and after a mysterious IL stint (which was used just to give him a break, I’m sure) he’s coming back to face a Pirates team who plated ten yesterday. Hendricks ranks last in the league in xBA, last in fastball velocity, and in the 3rd percentile in whiffs. He’s given up at least four runs in every single start this season, and is averaging just four innings pitched – and will be followed by a gassed Cubs bullpen.
And I’m not saying that the Pirates are all sunshine and rainbows, my friends. But the Cubs’ offense has been fine over their past ten games – they rank middle of the pack in OPS against lefties, and Bailey Falter has shown flashes of brilliance at home this season. Within the comfort of PNC, he’s pitched three games and allowed only four total earned runs, is averaging a WHIP of .82, and his biggest weakness has been the longball - yet, the Cubs are averaging just .1 home runs per nine innings against lefties this season on the road. That’s a loaded stat, but it’s one worth noting - they struggle to hit the ball out of the park.
Connor Joe, Oneil Cruz, and company have their eyes set on Kyle Hendricks. Like I said at the top, I will literally pay money (in the form of responsible gambling) to see Kyle Hendricks get out of his current form. And we’re getting it at plus-money.
PICK: Pittsburgh Pirates ML
