Overnight Grind : Market Makers VS Sharps December 4 CFB Edition 12/03/21 08:30

Market Makers are sportsbooks that are first to post a line and set the market. They will control risk by setting their bet limits lower when posting a spread or moneyline before
everyone else. Once the market adjusted, they max their bet limits.

Let's take a look at some games that sharps took interest in on Saturday. There is a handful of them so let's dig in.

Baylor / Oklahoma under

This total dropped a FG from when it opened. Market makers opened the total at 49 and it dropped to 46.5 on the same day and finally settled at 46 this evening. Sharps took position on the under at 49 and 47.5. The over is holding 60% of the tickets and 67% of the handle and it's obvious that the over is a square play. The max bet limit is under 3k and that can indicate that there is still room for this total to move.

Houston / Cincinnati under

We've got another under in which the sharps took interest. Opened at 55.5 on Nov 28th and sharp took a position at 55.5, 54 and 53. It's currently at 52.5 at Betonline and some books are posting a 52. The handle is 50/50 while the ticket count is on the over at 55%. The max bet limit is just under 6k and I don't expect much movement to happen.

Georgia

Betonline opened Georgia a 3.5 pt favourite back on November 22nd. With the news and injury on Robinson, this line just kept on going up. Also, Bama's O-line is terrible. Sharps took interest in Georgia on -3.5 and -4. Squares also love Georgia, as they own 77% of the tickets. The handle on Georgia is a little overwhelming for the book with close to 300k wagered on this game and 80% of the money on the Bulldogs. The max bet limit is at 23k at the book and this line can move to -7. Also, a move past the key number 7 would indicate that the book is truly desperate for some Alabama money. Alabama hasn't been an underdog in over 6 years and I can't wait to watch this game on Saturday.

San Diego St

Mountain West championship showdown!!! 5dimes opened the Aztecs a 3 pt favourite in the morning of November 28th and by the end of the day, the line was at -6. My projections have San Diego St an 8 pt favourite therefore I am not surprised with the line movement. What's surprising is the amount of money that started coming in on Utah St to a point that it set a couple of reverse line movements at the book. Sharps were aggressive in taking the Aztecs on low max bet limits at -3 and -4. The max limit is set at 11k at the moment and I can see some Utah St money come in if this game gets to 7.
