NHL 2021-2022 DIVISION FUTURES
ATLANTIC DIVISION Winner
TB leading the way as expected at +155. I don’t find much value in that number. They willstill be the team to beat even though they lost their 3rd line due to salary cap restrictions. We can cross out Montreal, Detroit, Ottawa. I have my doubts on the Bruins this season. If Hall has an MVP season, the Bruins will be up there. We know Toronto are underachievers during the playoffs but during the season they are an elite team with one of the best goal differentials in the league.
In the Atlantic division ill be hunting for value and the Panthers are the team that will offerthat. They were solid at home last year with a 20-5 record. I was concerned when Trocheck got traded but the Panthers just got better without him. Barkov is a beast and will lead this team to another solid season.
Take the Panthers at +455
CENTRAL DIVISION Winner
Sitting at -230 Colorado will be the team to beat in the central. The Wild are second at awhopping +650 followed by the Stars at +900. Some can argue that there is some value on the Wild and Stars, but Colorado’s firepower is elite vs the central’s opponents. Colorado is projected to finish at around 110 points this season with Kuemper between the pipes. Colorado is projected to have 7-9 mores wins thAn the Wild and Starts.
Take Colorado at -230METROPOLITAN DIVISION Winner
This will be an interesting division and it's up in the air between the Islanders, Hurricanes,Penguins and Caps. The Pens are out of the question for me, too many injuries to key players and they might have a slow start. The Hurricanes are too cocky, lost their general at the blue line and I’m not convinced Andersen will do well in Carolina. The Islanders were underrated last season and I believe they are a little overrated this season but with good reasons. I'll be interested to see how Palmieri and Parise will fit in the Islanders system for a full season. They also have one of the best 4th lines in the league and potentially the best goalie tandem. The Islanders will not allow many goals, but can they score enough? They ranked 22nd in offense last year.
I haven’t spoken about the Flyers and Caps and that’s where I would focus for value inthe Metro division. The Flyers got better during the off-season with key acquisitions while the Caps will be looking at staying at the top in special teams. I believe the Flyers are undervalued with the acquisitions of Ellis, Ristolainen and Atkinson. They are very strong in the middle, much deeper on the blue line and if Hart can get it together this year they will surprise many.
Take the Flyers at +750
PACIFIC DIVISION Winner
This is by far the ugliest division for the upcoming season. It will be between Vegas andEdmonton. I don’t understand what Edmonton did with their defense during the off-season. I really don’t. They should be more explosive on offense, not that they needed it, but they will. The top 2 lines will be much more consistent but once again the defense might be a disaster. Losing Bear and Larsson were 2 big mistakes. Klefbom will be missing the whole season again. Expect their power play to be solid once again but that won’t be enough.
Take Vegas at -200
