Anthony P's NHL Model March 31, 2023
We will add new sports and models as we build the app and make it more robust. While our developers work on that, we want to give you as much information as possible via content and articles.I will post my MLB. NFL and NHL models as often as possible.
Reading the model is very simple. We are looking for EVs of over 5% on sides and 8 to 10% on totals. Sportsbooks tend to inflate lines on big favorites. I love to take a big underdog in those spots if they have a good pitcher on the mount and the game is on home turf. You should all play around with these and track them yourselves. See if you are seeing those with a significant edge losing often. Would you like to unlock all my VIP picks? Apologies for not updating the NHL article yesterday, as my focus was on NBA and MLB. However, I had a successful night in DFS and considered betting on the Devils but didn't follow through. Yesterday, favorites stole the show winning 9 out of 11 games, with Detroit and San Jose delivering the upsets.
Although my model doesn't offer much value for tonight's games, there are a couple of exciting matchups to watch. The Rangers face a back-to-back challenge after an exhausting game against the Devils. Halak is expected to be the goaltender for the Rangers, while Levi makes his NHL debut for the Sabres. Levi has performed well at Northeastern, boasting a GAA of 2.25, but he now faces a top-10 offense and special team in the NHL. Despite the Sabres' weak penalty killing this season, they have allowed only two goals in their last 15 attempts over the past five games. My model pegs this game at -120, primarily due to Halak. Although it's difficult to back the under in this game, the under is 21-7 in the last 28 meetings in Buffalo. Favorites have a 45-17 record in the last 62 meetings, and the Rangers should maintain this trend tonight.
The Flames have had recent success against the Canucks, with a 7-2-1 record in their last 10 meetings. Calgary is only two points away from the final Wild Card spot with fewer than 10 games remaining in the season, while Vancouver is already out of playoff contention. The Canucks' goaltending has been subpar this season, ranking 28th in goals against per game however since Demko's return the numbers are much better. In March, he has a GAA of 2.02 and SV% 0.929, On the other hand, the Flames' offense has been strong lately, scoring five or more goals in five of their last nine games. Given the Flames' desperation for a win and their past success against the Canucks, expect Calgary to secure this vital victory.
Good luck today!
