Happy Saturday! After taking today off and my 3-1 day on Thursday, I am excited to highlight today’s slate. College basketball is now in full swing, and there are too many games to choose from for the feature game, so I will give you my picks for some of the games I am most anticipating today.
Creighton vs. UConn: The Huskies are back in Connecticut following a two-game skid against Xavier and Providence. Xavier and Providence have proved to be legit contenders in the Big East and ranked in the top 30 in the Kenpom. Providence is 29-1 in their last thirty at home as an underdog. Betting Providence was free money, and we cashed. Following these two tight losses, Dan Hurley has to make some adjustments, and there is no better team to try these new adjustments against Creighton. I expect Adama Sanogo to feast in the paint against Creighton's lack of size. I expect Jordan Hawkins to be the leader of this team. Creighton has been very inconsistent this year, and this may be the worst time for them to play UConn following two losses for the Huskies.I am taking UConn -5.5
Texas vs. Oklahoma State: Oklahoma State has been sneaky good this year but has two close losses to UConn and Kansas. With the loss of Moussa Cisse for the Cowboys this weekend, it will hurt them down low against Timmy Allen, who I would expect to dominate the paint. Texas has ballers with Tyrese Hunter and Marcus Carr, which I expect most of the offense to run through. Following an absolute shootout with K-State in their previous game, I feel that Texas will either come out firing or very slow. Going into a hostile crowd in Stillwater, this has the feel of a trap game written all over it. For Oklahoma State to win, a massive day needs to come from Avery Anderson and John-Michael Wright, who are leading the Cowboys in these close games this year. This game will be another tight and low-scoring game.I am taking Oklahoma State +7.5
Iowa State vs. TCU: TCU has been remarkable this year. TCU has notable wins besides Baylor, who they beat by one point and played a near-perfect game, only committing seven turnovers throughout. The Horn Frogs have looked solid, and led by the successes of Mike Miles and Emanuel Miller, they have earned the number seventeen ranking in the country. However, TCU is coming off a four-game winning streak and had an excellent win in Oklahoma earlier this week. Led by Caleb Grill and Jaren Holmes, the Cyclones have been a shock to many this season with wins over Baylor, Villanova, and UNC. TCU will be a tough environment, but with the majority of the student body in Los Angeles for the College Football National Championship, the student factor will not be as lively as it usually is. This game is a trap game for the Horn Frogs.I am taking Iowa State +6.5
Other games I am picking tomorrow:
Kentucky vs. Alabama: Kentucky ML
Valparaiso vs. Bradley: Bradley -16.5
Clemson vs. Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh -2.5
