While we went against Miami yesterday, today, we need them to come in clutch this evening for our own bet to hit. 

Miami heads to Brooklyn on the heels of a tough loss against the Knicks last night, where they gutted out a low-scoring game, but ended up losing it in the final seconds to a resurging Knicks team. Brooklyn, who is heavily favored in this game, lost a burner a couple of days ago to the Atlanta Hawks, and are really well rested. 

But that being said, points should be hard to come by in this game. The Nets’ best scorer, Cam Thomas, is still out and the Heat are really solid on the defensive side of the ball. We detailed their defense a little last night, but they’re fifth overall in scoring defense and they cause the second-most turnovers in the league over their last five games. 

The Nets are a really great rebounding team, too - which makes for tough sledding on second-chance points, which is often the key to high-scoring games. And while they rebound well, they have had a lot of trouble scoring over the past five games or so, ranking 12th in scoring but having one of the lowest FG percentages in the league during that stretch. 

And Miami has had a ton of trouble scoring the ball as well as of late. The Nets aren’t a defensive masterclass, but they do rank fifth in the league over the last five games in FG percentage. They give up quite a bit of threes, and this could be the only challenge for the Nets, as the Heat shoot a LOT of threes. Nevertheless, we’re going to rely on the Nets being able to get outside and guard the perimeter. 

Much of the defensive presence of the Nets comes on the back of Nic Claxton, who is one of the best shot-blockers and defensive rebounders in the league. The Heat are 17th in the league in scoring over the past 5 games, and we’re going to rely on both of these teams’ offensive struggles to carry us forward. 

Hammer the under in this game that should be low-scoring, especially with the tired legs on the side of the Heat. I expect this game to be close and low-scoring - take the under.
