NBA Bet of the Day | March 23, 2024

In this column, I’ll go through the BEST BET I’m seeing in the league today; this can be in a spread, a moneyline, an Over/Under, or a player prop.

RECAP: Another day where we finish pretty much even on the day, despite our NBA of the Day cashing quite easily. We’re hovering around 50 units, and are looking for one final push to get over the hump. Yesterday’s Spurs/Grizzlies game was a sweat though, as the Grizzlies took the lead for the final time with about a second to go. That sealed the deal on the under, and if we got to OT, who knows how the bet would have panned out. On to today, where we have another loaded slate!

In a huge slate, we’ve already seen the under and the Knicks prevail during their game – I was on the under, but literally just forgot to post it. It happens, but we move on to today’s NBA of the Day, which I don’t absolutely love, but the Money Handles have been all over it literally all day. 

We head to Houston where the Rockets are taking on the Utah Jazz, a team that has been reeling over their last ten games, losing 8 out of their last ten. The Rockets have been on a tear recently, winning nine of their last ten and covering in nine of their last ten as well; they’re quietly the hottest team in the league, and tonight we’re backing them to cover in this game. 

The Sharp App Money Handles tool backs this and has backed it all day. Our Sharp AI has this game at -10, which is close enough for me; but the handles are the kicker. We’re seeing 32% of the betting handles on the Rockets tonight, with 97% of the money handles on this side, giving us a difference of 65%. The line movement has been this way all day as well, and has been creeping up and up, and could even land at -12 or -11.5 by the end of the day. Grabbing it here allows us the flexibility to hit it right on the handles. 

And it's no wonder that the Rockets are projected to blow out the Jazz… the Jazz are without Jordan Clarkson and are relying on Lauri Markkanen to carry the load offensively, which has been a problem for the Jazz this year. They only scored 97 points against one of the worst defensive teams in the league in the Mavericks last time out, and the Rockets are one of the best teams in the league at home. Something about Houston just makes the Rockets feel comfortable. 

Some final statistics to convince you: they cover in 70% of their home games, and 70% of their games as the home favorite so far this season. They cover in 61% of their conference games, and are just plain one of the most dominant ATS teams in the league. As the away underdog, the Jazz are covering only 30% of the time, and lose by an average of 12 points per game in this scenario. Yikes.
