In this column, I’ll go through the BEST BET I’m seeing in the league today; this can be in a spread, a moneyline, an Over/Under, or a player prop.

OVERALL RECORD: 141-140-5, -2.61u
RECAP: Yesterday was an up-and-down day in the MLB, as we broke close to even while going 3-2 on the day. The plays that we made were good, but some of the execution just wasn’t there – and we end up gaining .18 units on the day. We’ll take the positive record, but we have to get out of the slump that is this hole in the MLB – I won’t have many plays today, but here’s a play that I find tremendous value, especially at close to even money.

July 7th, 2024

Around here, we love to fade rookie pitchers making their MLB debut – but today, we have a rookie pitcher making their MLB debut in Coors Field, which just seems like starting your career on the hardest difficulty possible. That’s why we’re fading him and the Rockies at Coors in game three of the series.

The Royals haven’t been themselves as of late, and it’s shown – they’re 5-5 over their last ten and have lost the first two games of this series against the Rockies. Their offense hasn’t shown up, and this series has been the lowest-scoring series at Coors this season. That will all turn around today as the Royals send Brady Singer to the mound, and they’re facing up against Tanner Gordon, the 26-year-old righty who has spent the last five seasons in the minors, leading to mixed results.

Through his two AAA teams this season, he’s hosting a WHIP of 1.44 and has a case of the long ball, allowing 10 home runs and 25 runs scored over forty innings of work. While he spent some time injured, he’s a pitcher that features a deflated strikeout rate this season.

Singer has been really solid over his past three starts, but not many have led to wins – that will change today, as the Royals should be able to pounce on this pitcher. Singer’s last seventeen innings featured just three total earned runs and just a smattering of hits and strikeouts. He’ll have his work cut out for him though, as this Rockies offense can sneak up at any time; but do the Rockies have what it takes to sweep one of the best teams in the AL?

I don’t buy the Royals’ offensive regression, as they’re due for a big game offensively. We’re going to bank on that happening today, as I expect them to score upwards of six runs today, in contrast to the Rockies’ potential four runs scored. There’s value on them winning by two, and that’s what we’ll ride today.

PICK: Kansas City Royals -1.5
