CFL BETTING MODEL FOR JULY 7, 2023

Well, wasn't that a letdown? The Roughriders squeaked out a yawn-inducing 12-11 win over the Elks, with the game falling embarrassingly short of its hype. Our prediction model was gunning for an over 43 and anticipated the Roughriders to rack up over 25 points. Alas, the Elks' offense put up just what everyone figured they would. It's a miss, folks, but we're dusting ourselves off and moving on to the next one.

Calgary's impressive 12-3-1 ATS record in their last 16 road trips does seem to impress the public too much and might be overvaluing the Boomers' notable defensive play against Montreal last time out. The book's -6.5 raw projection favors the home squad, presumably to deter any early action below the key figure of 7 they opened the line at -7.5. They nailed it. The market kicked off at -7.5, pulling in enough Winnipeg support to nudge the line to -8.5. It'd be a shocker to see the final line settle at -7, and my bet is it holds steady at -7.5 after the latest drop.

No doubt, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers outshine Calgary on paper, show reliable home form, and have claimed victory in 7 of the last 9 face-offs. But it's a hefty handicap to place on the Calgary Stampeders, who have recently found their offensive rhythm and had an additional week to gear up for this clash. Maier's initial struggles seem to be a thing of the past, as he's showing promising signs of improvement. Meanwhile, Mills has truly risen to the occasion, flawlessly filling in for Carey, exceeding expectations in every regard. Furthermore, the offensive line is on an exciting trajectory, showing consistent and notable enhancement with each game they play.

The last ten encounters between these two have been single-digit affairs, with the last five all decided by a touchdown or less.
