NBA Bet of the Day | February 1, 2024

RECAP: Our NBA of the Day cashed rather sweat-free, and I know it definitely had some haters - we even had other coaches on the other side of this play, which is always scary. But, we cash it and add .9 units of profit on the day, going 2-1 overall. We lost the total in Brooklyn and hit the Portland Blazers +11, and they won outright. Another successful month in the NBA, where we gained about six units of profit. Thanks for sticking with!

The Philadelphia 76ers are a team that is highly questionable on a nightly basis, with multiple players being ruled out on a nightly basis. As of writing this, we are unsure if Maxey will play, but no matter what, Joel Embiid is out. They’re heading to Utah to take on the Jazz, a team that has been really solid in recent games and are favored in this one, with Maxey not expected to play. 

No matter who is playing on the Philadelphia side, we’re certain to see points scored in this late-night game. The Jazz have been dominant as of late on their home court and are a whopping 15-6 at home, while the 76ers (as of late) have been questionable on defense. That breeds the over, and that’s what we’re looking at today. 

According to the Sharp App Money Handles tool, the over is a bet that already has a difference of 57%, with 30% of the bets, and 87% of the money being placed on the over in this game. The line has continued to creep up as the day goes on, beginning at 235.5 and rocketing up to 238.5 as of now. Our Sharp App Projections have this game at 236.5, which means that it could be a little scary; but as long as it was over the initial line, that makes me content that our AI has always seen this game as going over. 

Utah is a top overs team in the league at home, and as the home favorite, the over is 5-2 on the season, going over the original line by a crazy fourteen points on average. As the away underdog, Philly is 5-4 on the over, going over by an average of two points. Nevertheless, we’re seeing two teams that consistently have gotten buckets to fall in this exact scenario throughout the season. 

Over their last five, the 76er offense has floundered a little bit, scoring only about 115 points per game; but the Jazz are allowing the third-worst over their last give, allowing nearly 130 points per game. If we can get around 115/120 from the 76ers, we’re looking really solid to hit the over. This Jazz offense is averaging 123 points per game at home this season, third-best in the entire league. 

Let’s take the over in this game where many people are down on the play because Maxey may or may not play; and no matter where this line travels throughout the day, we can be confident in an over play. Take the over in the late game.
