MLB Bet of the Day | August 10, 2024

RECAP: Yesterday was among the most bone-crushing we’ve had this season, as the tide turned deep into most of the games in the MLB yesterday. We finished one run below our line for our Team Total Parlay, and the Royals just sent in the towel at the end of the game to literally give up. We lose two games while winning our MLB of the Day and our total in the Crosstown Classic in Chicago. Happy Saturday!

Okay my friends, the baby scare is gone and we’re back getting y’all a play of the day, backed by Sharps today. 

The Sharps are back on the upswing in the MLB after a horrible month of July, winning over five units already on the month in the MLB. We’re tailing one of those picks today, and all of the measurements align for this play today between the A’s and the Blue Jays in the second game of their series. The public is heavy on the over, and that means that we’re fading it and heading under for sure. 

Yesterday’s game ended 3-1 on the backs of some disappointing hitting and some really timely pitching, and all of my metrics show that the same could be true in today’s contest as well. You see the names “Osvaldo Bido” and “Yariel Rodriguez” and you’ve got to scream over, right? The Sharp Report begs to differ, with one sharp hammering the under in this game, and Sharp AI agreeing with the sharp’s consensus. 

Oakland’s offense has come back down to earth after skyrocketing during the month of July, getting on base just 28% of the time in the month of August. They’ve struggled even more against right-handed pitching as well this month, getting on base a percentage tick lower than their ten game average; and they’ve only pushed across just over two runs per game against righties in their last ten. That’s not ideal for an offense facing Rodriguez, who has been able to keep the ball in the ballpark this season and go around five innings of work during that time. The Toronto bullpen is really well rested as well, making this for a chance for this pitching staff to get off on the right foot.

Bido isn’t a slouch either, with an xBA of .192 in his last three starts over the past month or so. That’s really effective, and this Jays offense hasn’t been stellar in any capacity this season; Bido misses barrels and doesn’t get hit hard among the absolute best in the league this season. 

Let’s ride the under on the back of these two starters who the public will love to fade… and that’ll give us an awesome line on the under in this game.
